Buying a new TV can be stressful. There is a lot of brands and models and figuring out what TV is best for your need can be tough. Which size to choose? What screen resolution? So let’s take a look at some things you should consider before deciding which one to buy.
Screen size
Screen size is one of the first thing you should consider when buying a new TV. It doesn’t matter if it’s a basic or high performance one. You should consider where you’re going to place it, how much space you have there, how far from the TV you will usually sit and then pick the largest TV that will fit. For most living room TV between 55 and 65 inches will be perfect.
Screen resolution
Screen resolution describes the number of pixels that make the picture on the TV. The higher resolution means a sharper picture and finer details so the higher is better most of the time. For many years full HD, 1920×1080, has been a standard screen resolution. However, in the last years 4K televisions have become more and more available and as a lot of streaming platforms support it it became a go to resolution when buying on. There are also some 8K models available on the market but are usually more expensive and there is not a lot of content you can watch in it. So we suggest you to select a TV with 4k, 3840×2160 pixel screen resolution.
HDR
HDR stands for high dynamic range and is a new feature in some 4K Ultra HD TVs. It can deliver more colors, more contrast levels and increased brightness. It could be called an upgrade of standard 4K. If you can afford a TV with HDR we strongly suggest you to get one, but even without you will enjoy the 4K quality.
Refresh rate
Refresh rate defines how many times per second a picture is refreshed on the screen. Standard refresh rate is 60 Hz and for most of the videos that is enough. But if you watch a lot of videos with rapidly moving scenes then you should consider getting one with 120 Hz refresh rate. Higher refresh rate is also recommended if you plan to connect a gaming console and play a lot of games.
Connections
You should pay attention to the number of connection a TV have, especially to the number of HDMI connections. More is always betters and gives you more options to connect external media players, gaming consoles…
LCT od OLED
There are two types of TVs on the market, LCT and OLED. The picture in OLED TVs is clearer, it has deeper blacks, brighter colors, but also comes with a premium price and probably won’t fit into your budget. If you can afford an OLED TV we suggest you to get one but if not, you will be equally satisfied with LCD.
OS
Smart TV is a must a TV must have to even consider buying. But which OS to choose? That will depend mostly on the brand you will end with as each brand has one. Most common is Android TV which has great reviews and you won’t be disappointed if you end up with it.
Audio
As most of the TV’s are very thin the audio in them is not superb. We suggest you to upgrade it with additional sound bar which will make your experience watching TV even better.
