In January 2021, Xiaomi released one of their innovative products named Xiaomi Air Charging. This innovative air charging product can change the whole game of wireless charging.
Wireless charging is becoming a norm in our society, and there is no reason not to. It is one of the most futuristic things you can own.
It’s also known as Inductive Charging. It works on the idea of using electromagnetic induction to provide electricity to the charging devices. Though it’s a ‘futuristic’ technology, the development is still in the process and has several limitations and restrictions.
In this article, we’ll be discussing how Xiaomi Air Charging works and when it will be available:
How ‘Xiaomi Air Charging Works?
Creating innovative products in today’s world isn’t easy. It comes to work after several headaches and nail-biting episodes, particularly if you want something wireless.
In terms of Xiaomi Air Charging, it works on by the application connecting antennas and millimeter waves (mm).
You can place the base station anywhere you want. It consists of different antenna that works depending on your smartphone. The set of five antennas calculates the device positioning – that is, where your device is present.
The other set of 144 antennas transfers millimeter waves to your device. These millimeter waves are the same as the waves used in 5G towers and services.
Now, when your device catches up with these waves, you can see your phone starts charging. When these waves return with information on the base station, the base station converts these waves into electrical power with the help of the antennas. In this way, your smartphone starts charging.
You can now move anywhere in the room, but remember, you can’t go outside the radius of 5 meters. Otherwise, the signals disconnect. Additionally, you must ensure that no objects are blocking the waves. It can affect the charging speed.
How Good Is Xiaomi Air Charging?
As the technology works on 5W charging speed, it’s nowhere close to the modern fast-charging smartphone.
But it’s not that bad, as several years before, Apple was also releasing iPhone with a 5W base charger.
As you know, in the past, companies did release the products such as Air Charging. Products like Motherbox and Wi-Charge also provides air charging, but all of them did not perform well. From this, we should know that Air Charging is not an easy task.
But it’s a good and innovative step in the right direction by Xiaomi, we do hope to see this product in the future.
When Will It Be Available:
Xiaomi didn’t announce the date yet. They are still working on Air Charging and making it better and more efficient.
As we know, wireless charging is super-inefficient, as there are different metals and pieces from which the electromagnetic radiations go through. These pieces decrease the efficiency and making the radiations less effective, results in higher power consumption.
We hope to see this technology in our homes soon.
Ending Notes:
Xiaomi does a pretty good job in its groundbreaking product. They used to do a pretty good job with their machines, smartphones, bands, watches, etc. but creating a ‘futuristic’ product like Air Charging is always a risky task.
The company did bring the new technology and it’ll be their top-selling product if they work calculatedly on it. This will also open the door for other companies who also have the same ideas on their mind. Like, Lenovo with the help of Motorola also released a similar product and named it Motorola 1 Hyper. In this technology, if you put any objects in the middle of the base station and charging device, it would stop and will continue if you remove the object. But stopping time and restarting time should be so fluid and contains no lag.
